Apply for the latest Horizon 2020 Migration Call

SSHRC has launched a call for proposals in support of Canadian researchers’ engagements with European research consortia funded through the Horizon 2020 research platform of the European Union (EU). This is the second round to be held for this SSHRC funding opportunity, in alignment with Horizon 2020’s societal challenge 6: Europe in a changing world—Inclusive, innovative and reflective societies.

The 2020 call for proposals encourages Canadian researchers to collaborate with research teams from various EU member states to answer critical social science questions related to migration issues, including the protection of refugees and the integration of migrant children in host countries.

In October 2017, the EU launched the final three-year Horizon 2020 work program, the largest EU research funding platform to date, comprising calls for research totalling €30 billion. In 2020, the final year of this round, the platform will include an ambitious plan backed by up to €32 million for international research collaboration directed to supporting migrants.

SSHRC will contribute one- to three-year awards valued at C$75,000 to C$200,000 for researchers affiliated with an eligible Canadian institution, to participate in Horizon 2020 research teams. Researchers based in Quebec may receive additional support of C$50,000 from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et Culture.
