Trans-Atlantic Platform launches research funding opportunity on democracy, governance and trust

The Trans-Atlantic Platform (T-AP) for Social Sciences and Humanities has just launched a fourth joint research funding opportunity, entitled: Democracy, Governance and Trust (DGT).

The Democracy, Governance and Trust (DGT) funding opportunity brings together research funding organizations, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), from countries in South America, Africa, North America and Europe. The funding opportunity will support international projects that will contribute to our understanding of how democracy, governance and trust play a role in tackling both short-term crises and long-term challenges.

The funding opportunity is open to teams with members from at least three participating countries, representing both sides of the Atlantic. Research partners will receive funding from the national funding agency for their country, for projects that can last up to 36 months.

The funding opportunity focuses on the following nine cross-cutting themes:

The focus on these themes will encourage teams to develop innovative and outstanding interdisciplinary research projects and potentially consider linkages between these themes in ways that explore both past and contemporary factors shaping democracy, governance and trust.

The deadline to submit the required notice of intent is September 29, 2023, and the deadline to submit the full application is November 6, 2023. Grant applications for this funding opportunity will be submitted through the SAGe system managed by the São Paulo Research Foundation (Brazil). Visit the T-AP website to learn more about the competition and the application process.

SSHRC will be offering a webinar about this funding opportunity. See Upcoming Webinars for the date and instructions on how to participate.
