Return of In Conversation With—SSHRC’s series of public talks—featuring the Impact Award winners

January 22, 2024

SSHRC’s series of public talks, In Conversation With, organized in partnership with The Conversation Canada, will return this January for its third season. In keeping with our inaugural series, In Conversation With will feature the winners of SSHRC’s Impact Awards, some of Canada’s most accomplished social sciences and humanities scholars, whose perspectives are shaping our understanding of people and society.

Over the next few months, editors from The Conversation Canada will host live virtual interviews with 2023 SSHRC Impact Award winners David Dyzenhaus, Andrew Martindale, Jessica Davis, Kang Lee, Jeremy de Beer and Chidi Oguamanam.

David Dyzenhaus will kick off the 2024 series on January 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. (eastern) with his talk entitled ‘The Politics of the Rule of Law’. You can register here. Dyzenhaus is professor of law and philosophy at the University of Toronto. He has helped further understanding of the rule of law as a commitment to a legal order that imposes a moral discipline on the state. His work has been cited over 700 times, covering a broad range of subjects including administrative law, labour and employment, immigration, and citizenship and human rights. Dyzenhaus is the recipient of SSHRC’s 2023 Gold Medal.

All events will be open to the public and will include a question and answer period. The sessions will be in either English or French, with simultaneous interpretation and closed captioning available in both languages.
